ADULT SERVICES
Our adult services include providing support in response to situational issues (work-induced stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement etc); treatment for psychological presentations (depression, anxiety, addictions etc); coaching for personal & professional growth (leadership development, conflict resolution, confidence etc) and a range of services relating to both corporate and parenting needs.

TYPES OF TREATMENT
At The Soke, we have experts available in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, psychotherapy and coaching and can work with you to determine which discipline is best suited to your needs and why.
-
Psychiatry is delivered by medics who diagnose, manage and treat mental health problems, from depression to more acute behavioural disorders. Psychiatrists are able to prescribe medication and will often refer patients for psychotherapy either as an alternative to, or in conjunction with, medication. Psychiatrists will often also have admitting privileges to certain hospitals, should escalation to in-patient treatment be appropriate.
-
Psychologists are experts in behavioural studies: how people think, act, react and interact and the feelings, thoughts and motivations for their actions. Psychologists often also deliver therapy, but differ in their practice from psychotherapists in that they look for biological explanations for the conditions that they are presented with. Psychologists do not prescribe medication.
-
Psychotherapy is often referred to as the talking therapy as it entails sessions that consist mainly of a trained therapist listening in order to help their client process the issues that are causing them distress. Psychotherapy is highly effective with conditions such as depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, anger or self-esteem issues. It is also an appropriate solution for ‘situational’ problems - in other words, problems that arise through circumstances, from infertility to bereavement, separation or stress.
-
Coaching is an appropriate avenue for those who do not necessarily want to solve a problem, but instead wish to unlock potential, or find the drivers and motivations from within to ensure that they are able to identify and realise their goals.
SAMPLE SCENARIOS AND SOLUTIONS
Our aim is to help you find solutions to a range of mental health scenarios affecting adult individuals or couples. These might include:
-
Depending on the inoividual circumstances, we offer a combination of trauma-focused therapy and EMDR, delivered by psychologist or psychotherapist might be suitable.
-
You are likely to be recommended a course of psychotherapy, aimed at investigating the roots of the issue, discovering and helping you to understand your drivers so that you not only recover but also make more conscious choices in future.
-
Depending on the length, level and/cause of your depression or anxiety, it may be appropriate for you to have an assessment with a psychiatrist first in order to determine whether medication would be an appropiate solution in conjunction with talk therapy.
-
Couples therapy is generally the appropriate response to relationship problems. This form of therapy does not automatically lead to a couple choosing to stay together, but in some cases can be a big step towards the choice to part amicably and with mutual respect.
