Joan Parnell, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist & Mental Health Nurse

Joan Parnell is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Play Therapist and Mental Health Nurse. At Soke Wimbledon she works with children, adolescents, families and adults. Joan is especially focussed on supporting clients experiencing eating disorders, depression and anxiety, emotional issues and behavioural problems. As a CBT therapist, Joan is able to identify unhealthy thoughts and behaviours, working collaboratively with her clients to bring about positive change. She also provides motivational enhancement therapy, mindfulness and guided self-help, sensitively adapting her practice to the needs of each client.

Joan has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including the NHS and private clinics. Joan began her career as a registered Mental Health Nurse before gaining a Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling from Birkbeck College, University of London. She then gained Post-Graduate Diplomas in Play Therapy from Roehampton University, and in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Royal Holloway, University of London
