Dr Sara Morando, Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Sara Morando is a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Soke in Chelsea. She brings to our Eating Disorders Team over 20 years of experience of working with people with an eating disorder, including ARFID. Sara also works with our Neurodevelopmental Team, providing ADHD and autism assessments and treatment. Her special interests additionally include complex trauma, personality disorders, OCD, anxiety and depression.
Sara is trained in several psychotherapy models, including mentalization-based therapy (MBT) for individuals and families, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal therapy and has a foundation training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Having originally trained as a doctor then adult psychiatrist in Italy, Sara has worked in general adult mental health, specialist eating disorders, personality disorders and psychotherapy services, in the NHS and privately.
She is a mentalization based treatment supervisor and is supervising NHS teams through the Anna Freud Centre, where she also supports the delivery of mentalization based therapy training. She completed a PhD in 2024 at University College London, with a dissertation on Mentalizing in Eating Disorders. She is an honorary clinical lecturer at UCL and module lead for the MSc in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition at UCL.
Sara is known for combining her clinical expertise with her extensive psychotherapeutic skills, to offer a warm, reflective, and personalised approach to her clients. Working in collaboration with the people she treats, Sara is able to offer best-in-class care.
