Dr Ellen O’Gorman works with children and adolescents aged 5 - 20 years. Within her practice, she focusses on neurodevelopment assessments for children with ADHD and Autism, and ongoing treatment for neurodiverse clients who may benefit from further support. Ellen also provides wrap around care for the wider family unit, through family therapy and parenting support.
Ellen is experienced in completing psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions with children and families for the purpose of understanding and supporting development needs, psychological wellbeing, relationships, and mental health concerns. Ellen is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Systemic Therapy and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). Ellen's experience in working with children has also included producing high quality reports for the purpose of educational support in schools and other agencies.
As well as her role at The Soke, Ellen works as a Paediatric Clinical Psychologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Ellen gained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University of Bath in 2022, during which time she spent three years in training placements as Clinical Psychologist within NHS hospitals across the south of England. Prior to that she was awarded an MSc Distinction in Mental Health Studies from King’s College London and a BA in Psychology and French from Trinity College Dublin. She is accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Ellen takes a neuro-affirmative approach to her work. She believes in taking the time to properly engage with her clients, allowing them to feel heard and listened to. Ellen encourages clients to bring their own agenda to their sessions, with the goal of working towards positive, long-lasting outcomes. She brings compassion, patience and care to her sessions, and provides the space for playfulness with her younger clients.
