As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr Anna Kacperek brings over 20 years of experience in psychiatry. Originally qualified as a medical doctor in 2002, Anna’s training combines medical knowledge with experience in child development, family work and individual therapies. She has worked in various NHS settings with children and adults, including people with physical and learning disabilities.
Her Specialist Training in Child & Adolescent Mental Health was completed on St Mary’s Higher Training Scheme, affiliated to Imperial College.
Working with clients under the age of 18 years, Anna has particular expertise in the management of neurodevelopmental disorders – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tic Disorder and Autism. Anna has experience in the assessment and treatment of psychological trauma. She treats young people presenting with a range of psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety, phobias, OCD or psychosis. And also helps young people experiencing school-based problems.
Anna’s approach focuses on evaluation of psychiatric conditions and discussion with the parent, followed by appropriate therapy and, where required, medication. She can also see parents or carers individually to help understand the root of family issues. As a clinician, Anna’s aim is to engage with young people and their families to gain a comprehensive understanding of difficulties and establish a way forward.
